Landlocked Coho Fishing
We did a trip up to Oroville today and fished for a couple of hours for the landlocked coho salmon up there. The bite was red hot and we had three doubles and hooked somewhere around 15 fish, keeping 7 for the smoker. I’m here to tell ya, these fish are awesome! They were all 16-19 inches and fought like crazy. They popped the line off the downrigger clips with gusto, burned drag and all of ‘em jumped a lot. And the little salmon all had bright orange meat in them as well…

Lake Tahoe
We were supposed to start on Tahoe this week, but that crazy storm brought with it 30 mph winds and, get this…snow! I’m letting things settle back down again and will start up next week. June, July and August are awesome up there!
Shad Fishing
Well, it’s been one bizarre year for shad. There was some super hot fishing early over on the Feather but the bite there has tapered off considerably. Fellow guide Mike Moore and I ran up the Yuba the other day and didn’t even see a shad from the mouth to Deguarre Point Dam and back! On the American, there’s a handful of fish strung out from the mouth to Nimbus, but the bite, overall, has been slow due to a lack of fish.
