Big Fred headed for the Land of the Giant Smallies
July 2, 2007

Our pal, Big Fred Contaoi of Orange County Choppers is currently en route to the final regular-season FLW Tour stop of the year, which is to be held on July 12-15 in Detroit.
At first glance, Detroit seems like an odd place for a bass tournament, but the Detroit River and Lake Erie are well-known for producing trophy smallmouth.
That’s not all that’s big at Lake Erie, either. Winds can kick up 6- to 8-foot rollers out there, which is about the last thing you want to see in a bass boat that has, oh, about 6 inches of freeboard.
Should Big Boy put something together here and sack up some big bass, first place is worth a cool $200K!
After that event, Fred has some sponsor commitments throughout the summer but doesn’t have a scheduled tournament until the first week of September, when the Wal Mart-FLW Series continues at New York’s Lake Champlain.
