An easy one…Name that Fish!
August 24, 2007

I’m letting you off easy on this one, the latest Name that Fish entry.
You probably shouldn’t need a clue, but here’s one anyway: This guy reaches sexual maturity at 2 years of age and, in many areas, spawning runs occur every other year.
Generally speaking, these guys spawn in the lower reaches of creeks and rivers just above tidewater.
They typically run 3 to 6 pounds and the males develop huge humped backs during mating season.
Okay, that should be more than enough clues, but here’s one more…
These fish are native to the West Coast — typically Puget Sound to Alaska, but they’ve also been transplanted in a few areas of the Great Lakes.
Can you name it?

100 % a br00k trout! What do I win?
How about a lifetime supply of rainbow Power Bait and some Penguin line??
Its a Pink Salmon! Just got back from the Kenai Penninsula and its their off year. Had to stop at Bird Creek on the way back to Anchorage just to catch one and grab a picture but my fishin partner took the shot from the bridge about a 100 yards away.
Don Pardo, tell him what he won….
