With the California salmon collapse and the resulting closures, tons of people have been emailing and calling me asking about how they can get involved in helping the plight of our fisheries.

Probably the easiest and quickest way to lend a helping hand is join the American Fishing Foundation which is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the anadromous fishing opportunities within California, Oregon and Washington.

“It is AFF’s intent as an organization to unify and strengthen the fragmented groups of sport anglers and the communities that depend on sportfishing under one single dynamic voice,” says AFF President Rosalie Snow. “And then seek fair, equitable, and balanced change for the eventual restoring to the once abundant anadromous fish populations of the Pacific Coast Region.

AFF has strong connections within the political arena which enables it to fight the good fight for angling interests. The outfit will host derbies each year to help raise funds to help get our fisheries back.

The first event will be the Klamath Fishing Derby, to be held August 29-30, 2008.

Do Your Part!
Organizations like the American Fishing Foundation need as many members (”Patrons”) as possible. When board members go to fishery meetings to fight for your rights, it’s extremely important that they have large constituency to speak for.

You can become a patron for a measly $75 a year…just click HERE
