Regular FishwithJD reader, Kenton Nichols of Eagle River Alaska, sent in this photo of himself from a recent trip to visit family in Pennsylvania where he and the gang did a little fishing for “European Big-Scaled Salmon” on the “Kenai of the Northeast,” the Juanita River.

This beautiful Smoker of the Year Contest entry was taken on a dog turd marinated in donkey’s blood.

Nah, just kidding…Nichols said that he actually caught the beast on a 4-inch tube jig he was tossing for smallmouth bass. After the catch, they filleted it and then marinated a cedar plank in red wine. Then, they put the board on the grill and then the fish on the board. When everything was good and hot, they planted the fish in the garden and ate the board…

    WHAT HAS THIS GUY BEEN SMOKING UP THERE IN EAGLE RIVER ALASKA? HE NEEDS TO GO DOWN TO GEORGIA AND TRY AND HOOK INTO A REAL BUCKET MOUTH.
