There’s nothing like a little blatant disrespect of a fragile fishery to make your day! Be prepared to have your blood boil when you watch the video of these losers “fishing” the American River in Northern California where salmon fishing is currently closed for the year due to record-low returns.
Yes, you can technically still fish, but intentionally ripping salmon is reprehensible…this does nothing but trash an already strained to the brink resource. Nice release technique, too, by the way, you punk-asses…watch the fish turn belly up and sink at the end.
Of course, we’re not dealing with brain surgeons here, as evidenced by the fact that they posted the evidence of their poacher activities online at YouTube!

Considering knowledge is the key to fishing success, it appears that ignorance speaks for itself. This just goes to show the difference between fishing (i.e. The technique, occupation, or diversion of catching fish) vs. catching (i.e. To seize or capture. To trap or ensnare). It’s too bad that 90% tend to catch fish without the knowledge to understand what fishing really is.
Somebody ought to jam that hook in to his ribs and throw him over the side. Watch him thrash while you pump the rod. When DFG shows up, tell him he was trying to get away, but you snagged him good!!

I too spent many of my early years beading down in the basin. Never with more than a 3 foot leader, (not that it makes it much better). I wouldn’t be caught dead down there now because I evolved and can’t stand low lifes like this.
Yea, pretty sick, eh? I guess it hits even more close to home for me because, like you, I grew up fishing Nimbus as a kid.
Same deal…did the flossing thing back in the day and then one day realized that I’d rather catch fewer fish downriver (that actually bit) by myself than 30 a day in the combat scene that was “The Wall.” A graduation of sorts, you could say.
When we were kids down there we never pulled crap like these jerk-offs!
When was that video of Nimbus and why wern’t DFG on the spot and citing them for blatent salmon fishing and on purpose snagging??? I have fished Nimbus in the past and yes I have flossed but that is not my current method of fishing. Much better now that I have a drift boat. Most all the people I fish with on the river will not condone that style of fishing and are very vocal (and sometimes physical) about it.
At least they are appropriately wearing their fishing licenses above their waist and visible…
