DO NOT FISH WITH BEADS ON THE SMITH...OR ANY RIVER FOR THAT MATTER!!! King salmon actually will bite when given a chance and don't need to be mouth snagged, lined or flossed!!!!!

Off the bank, throw No. 5 Blue Fox spinners in the early morning hours and then switch to drifting eggs on a slinky or under a float.

Good luck!

For kings I assume? Well, there should be fish poking around in the estuary this month. The fishing doesn't really get going (not counting the snagging) until the first good rain or two...usually Oct or Nov.

There's nothing going on in the Smith then, except maybe an early king down at the mouth. Check the regs before you go!

Well, it's going to be a while, Gary, considering the amount of rain the river just got pounded with. When the river's just turning over and has a foot of vis or so, go with a #2 rocket red Spin-N-Glo and eggs if you got 'em.
