While the Lower Klamath River is packed with people and jet boats in the fall, the middle section is typically very quiet…even when the fishing’s red hot.

From September through November, the stretch of river between Weitchpec and Happy Camp plays host to big runs of king salmon and steelhead. And as the kings peter out, winter-run steelies fill the void. It’s beautiful, rugged country that begs to be explored…
