David Rhoads hooked this big lingcod north of Bodega Bay in Northern California while fishing with a 4-ounce jig and is our latest July Hawg of the Month Contest entry.
Dave’s pal Eric Boehm sent in the pic and said that they actually had an encounter with a much larger fish earlier in the day…they had a 26-inch ling hooked and a jumbo “hitchhiker” ling followed it to the surface. They netted both fish but the unhooked big dude managed to get out of the net.
As our latest Hawg of the Month submission, David (we’ll hook ya up, too Eric, if he wins) earns a chance at the monthly prize: Some headgear from Pautzke’s and also has a shot at the Grand Prize, a guided fishing trip for two with Bill “Swanny” Swann of Swanny’s Fishing.
Got a Hawg to submit? Send us an email and we’ll tell ya how!
