Ok trollers pay close attention: You think you know what’s going on down around your downrigger? Think again! I shot this video last summer and fall while chasing rainbows, king salmon and kokanee in various lakes around Nor Cal. Interesting stuff…

    thanks for the info- I hav’nt noticed any neg. from the down riggers. my fishing has been good. I do note that if your eqipment is not grounded you may have a problem!!!

    do you think the hum is bad & how can you stop it, i very seldom hear a noise?

      All downrigger cables hum…so obviously it isn’t a huge issue with the fish…but it can drive ya nuts listening to it all day long. So, a lot of folks are switching to Scotty’s Downrigger Braid which kills the hum and has less drag in the water…

    Is the hum from the motor or the down rigger cable? What kind of camera and depth was that? Did you have the camera on the downrigger weight?

      Yes, the hum is from the cable. The video was shot anywhere from 35 feet down (intro sequence) down to 110 feet at Lake Tahoe. The camera was attached to the weight and is a trick model my brother in Hollywood obtained…
