There are few lures that are guaranteed to catch fish. But if you follow the instructions of the back of the package of a Buzz Bomb, you can’t go wrong. Wish it was always this simple!
Kodiak Island: A Multi-Species Fandango!
As promised, I am going to get a little more into last week’s Alaskan adventure here…starting with the awesome diversity of species you can catch armed only with a spinning rod, rental car, a handful of lures and a healthy sense of adventure!
We obviously didn’t get our mitts on everything that swims around the island — not even close — but we did pretty well considering we had no access to a boat! Here’s a look at some of the critters we caught…Click here to read more…
Babe Ruth: The coolest fishing buddy ever!
I am thinking that a day hanging out with Babe Ruth, drinking some brewskis, putting the smack-down on some trout and talking trash about some of the pre madanna players of the current era would be…well…like the greatest day of all time!

The kid’s first-ever steelie!
Took Coop down to the ol’ backyard late yesterday evening for a quick plug pulling session and he managed to go 2 for 2 on small steelies, the first two of his young steelheading career. Not the biggest fish in terms of weight, but so huge in other ways!
I knew there were decent numbers of these little “egg-eater” size fish around and I figured they’d be the perfect size for a 4-year-old. Though the little fish were pretty scrappy on kokanee rods, the little dude was able to crank ’em in all by himself. He was stoked! But not nearly as much as dad…
We were only out for an hour and the problem now is convincing him you don’t catch a couple steelies every time out!
