Wade Hayes’ big smallie

Apparently, Wade Hayes can do more than play guitar and sing…turns out the country star is also quite handy with a rod and reel, thank you.

Here’s a sweet smallmouth bass he caught while fishing Nashville’s Percy Priest Lake with our pal and pro basser, Big Fred Contaoi who fishes the FLW Tour for Orange County Choppers.

And as far as Big Fred switching gears and doing a little pickin’ on the 6-string…well…it’s not pretty (trust me).

When my son was 8yrs old he found out Wade liked to fish and he gave him his own fishing game we had got him for Christmas when we saw him at the Grand Ole Opry. When I asked Codey if he was sure his reply was, "mom,he is always on the road and don't have to fish." "If I give him my game he can fish any time he would like." My son is now a 20yr old man. My, how time flies by.

Wow…very cool. And yes, time does fly. As the song goes…"Don't blink!" Thanks for the story!

There’s sure some good fishing in Percy Priest Lake. I think Wade would have loved to caught this baby during the Porter Waggoner Memorial Tournament.
