Why is “The River Why” coming to the Silver Screen?

The River Why.gif

This one comes from the “I’m not sure if I want to jump for joy or puke” file…

An adaptation of my favorite book…David James Duncan’s classic novel, The River Why, the tale of Gus Orviston’s search for steelhead, self-enlightenment and the perfect schedule, is currently being filmed on location in the Northwest.

With all apologies to stars William Hurt and Amber Heard, I’m just not sure this thing can be pulled off. It’s just one of those stories that should probably stay on a page. We’ll see…

By the way JD, I’m a former coach of the American National Fishing Team, at the International level. Have several chapters in the Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame, Oral History of Fishing, published award winning outdoors writer on 7 continents and have recieved personal thank you letters from the editors of Field and Stream and Barak Obama for my work for fishing and with kids.

My hopelessly out of dade website, entirely too busy, is http://www.BetterBankAnglers.com.

Thanks for the comeback “Fred”. Hope you can laugh at my gaff as well. Tight Lines. jb

I couldn’t help but laugh. Sorry JD calling you Fred might have something to do with being very busy and having a bit of adult libations. Not sure which. Love your site. Well done. jb

I’ve always enjoyed this book and often use it as a gift to young fisherpeople who might just be searching for more in life. The book is about soul searching and finding and claiming the fishing lifestyle as your own.

With all due respect Fred, you and I have done it and we should be encouraging others to take this lifestyle’s journey.
While I hate the idea of our lifestyle becoming the next yuppie fad, don’t worry they won’t accept the hard work aspect of it. Publishing in all medias, thoughtfully uplifting messages about our lifestyle can only do it good. jb

P.S. Nice website Fred, let’s do a link. jb

I agree, though I’m not sure why you’re calling me Fred…
