Keep ‘er simple, that’s what I say! In general, go more subtle in clear water/sunny conditions and brighten everything up on dark days or in murky water.

Swimbaits and bucktails are my go to for stripers. Great tips for swimbaits. I like to follow the same color rules with my bucktail trailers. I like to use a chartreuse or bright green Jig Strip trailer in murky water and usually a lighter color in cleaner water.

ME AND MY NEIGHBOR WHEN FISHING YESTERDAY AT ARDEN ON THE AMERICAN RIVER AND I CAUGHT A 25INCH STRIPED BASS AND IT WEIGHT 4LBS.FOR BAIT I USED A SPIKE MINNOW FOR BAIT AND SIZE 1 HOOK TO CATCH THE FISH IT WAS A FUN FIGHT TO CATCH THAT FISH FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER.

Hey JD, I found your tips regarding Shad fishing very useful. Thanks a lot! Now that the Shad bite is slowing way down, I plan to see if I can find some stripers. How do you rig and fish these swimbaits? If you did a new article about how to find and fish for stripers (especially from the bank) that would be awesome!
