West Coast: Better Batten Down the Hatches!

It looks like most of the West Coast is in for a good dumping this week. From Seattle on down through Los Angeles, things are going to be wet.

Most of the precipitation is forecasted for Central California on up and some major rain (and wind) appears to be on the horizon!

From Weather Underground, here’s the Nor Cal outlook:

” The heaviest precipitation is expected over Shasta County along with Butte and western Plumas counties, where a large area of rainfall amounts of 12 to 18 inches or more will be possible through the weekend…”

Snow levels look pretty high too…6500 to 9000 feet! With a decent amount of snow already in the mountains, the warm rain is sure to crank many streams to flood stage.

Throw in some wind to 40 mph, and it looks like a good week to hang out indoors!

I just got home from 2.5 days in the Trinity River area.
Early this morning, there was mild rain, however, by about about 9am, this second front was just getting started….wind was gusting at 40 to 50mph as I rolled toward Whiskeytown.
Yesterdays 1st storm was pretty rainy most of the day, but I kept tossing bait away at holes near Helena, Trinity Canyon Resort, Hell Hole etc … but all I could get was 1 mini steelhead. I’m frustrated! …need to hire a guide next time.. cover much more of the river in a drift boat, and maybe I can learn a lil.

Good time to get all your fishing gear cleaned & lubed, also straiten out your tackle box. Get ready for steelies.
